Do I need a referral from my doctor?

For most diagnostic and image-guided therapeutic procedures, you need a referral from your doctor prior to scheduling the procedure. There are, however, some exceptions to this rule including certain screening tests and image-guided treatment modalities. Whether or not you need a referral also depends on your insurance company. In general, an HMO policy almost always requires a referral from a primary care physician. With a PPO, there are some diagnostic studies and image-guided treatments that can be scheduled without a referral. For additional information please contact us at (409) 832-2211.

How do I obtain copies of my films or a radiology report?

To obtain copies of any study or report for a study performed within The ODC please contact us by calling (409) 832-2211. You can submit this request either in person or by telephone. You may choose to pick your study up in person or have it sent directly to a physician’s office. Federal Law requires that you sign a release of information form and provide identification prior to picking up your films or having them sent to a physician’s office. If someone is picking up your films or a report for you, they will be required to provide a signed letter of permission stating that they have your permission to pick them up on your behalf. They will also be required to show identification and produce a copy of your identification. These measures are intended to insure the privacy of your health information. If you have further questions, please contact the radiology file room directly.
